My name is Kai, and I'm an independent developer based in Seattle.
This is a little space on the internet where I showcase the apps that I've built and share my journey as an indie developer.
I started building my own apps because I loved the idea of making something that people use, and having complete creative freedom of my time and work. I published my first app in 2022, and have gone on to publish 4 more.
I do everything by myself - design, engineering and marketing. It is very satisfying work, and each app I build is a little bit better than the last one!
In my prior life, I was one of the first Product Managers at Duolingo. I was fortunate that my work took me many places (literally), and I even got to start Duolingo's first office outside the US!

A cute mascot that reminds you to take your medications on time. But watch out — he gets increasingly annoying if you miss a dose!

A fun, motivating trivia game for people who love to explore the world and learn about countries, history and geography.
Ka Chinese Tones (2023)
People learning Chinese often struggle a lot with the tones. This app teaches you to hear and say the tones, without any of the stress.
English Playlist (2022)
Listening practice for intermediate learners of English, hands-free. App interface in Japanese and Traditional Chinese.
Good Mornings (2022)
My first app. Inspired by the "Good Morning" images that I receive on WhatsApp, I made an app to help people create them.
